The mini trampoline offers a fun and vigorous work out that can help you get in shape and make you feel like a kid again. The stair stepper can offer a cardiovascular workout that helps to improve your lower body strength and balance. These inexpensive, space-saving devices can help you stay fit and healthy.

Mini Trampoline

One of the great things about the mini trampoline is that it can be used indoors and out. A minimal learning curve makes it easy to get started on this piece of exercise equipment. You can get a good workout, with low impact on your joints, by simply jumping on the mini trampoline. Although full-size trampolines are impractical for apartment-dwellers, the mini trampoline takes up little space and can be stored just about anywhere. Once you feel comfortable balancing on the mini trampoline, you can expand your workout with exercise routines.

Mini Trampoline Exercise

Two easy exercises to get you started on the mini trampoline include the bounce and punch, and the two-footed jump. For the bounce and punch, kept your feet shoulder width apart and execute a small bounce. During each bounce, punch the air with your arms up, down and to the sides. For the two-footed jump, keep your jumps low and fast every bounce, completing as many bounces as possible for one to two minutes. You can vary this exercise by jumping on and off the trampoline for endurance training.

Stair Stepper

You can perform stair stepping exercises on a store-bought device, on a steady step tool or on the first rungs of a flight of stairs. You can perform exercises similar to those you would on a mini trampoline but with greater impact on your joints. To do the bounce and punch with a step stool, step up and punch your arm upward and step down while punch your arm toward the floor. The punches should match the rhythm of your steps. When exercising with a stair step stool, maintain proper form and posture. Alter your feet for a balanced workout and stop when you become fatigued.

Stair Stepper Machines

A stair stepper machine provides a more expensive option to the mini trampoline and step stool workouts. Stair stepper machines afford less versatility, but provide similar calorie-burning and cardiovascular benefits. They also give you a lower impact workout than a step stool. Newer models feature options that allow you mix up your workout with different types of resistance. Using a stair stepper machine, a step stool or a mini trampoline will help you improve your balance, increase your lower body strength and improve your overall health. (See Reference 1)
