Weight loss is something you have to work at over an extended period of time, especially if you want to keep the pounds off. However, it's possible to shed a lot of weight fast or average about a pound a week, just by making a few changes to your lifestyle.
Step 1
Throw away all food items that are high in fat, cholesterol or sugar lurking in your cabinets. These foods will work only to keep the weight on and will be a temptation when you feel like indulging. Chuck them in the trash bin--out of sight, out of mind.
Step 2
Drink eight 8-oz. glasses of water per day. Staying hydrated will keep your digestive system functioning at full capacity, flushing out waste, toxins and fat. Getting enough water also helps your metabolism continuously burn fat, which is important for quick weight loss.
Step 3
Cut your portions by 10 percent. It might be difficult at first, but when eating your meals, stop eating when about 10 perfect of your food remains on the plate. You'll likely be satisfied with what you've already eaten and won't need that extra 10 percent, which means fewer calories to burn and more weight lost.
Step 4
Stock your refrigerator with fresh vegetables and fruits, which are filled with fiber and water. You can reach for them for a snack and not worry about adding to your daily calories.
Step 5
Exercise for 30 minutes everyday. Thirty minutes of an elevated heart rate will help burn calories and eventually fat when combined with a healthy, low-calorie diet. Jogging, biking, swimming and running are ideal exercises for weight loss.
