Melaleuca Inc. produces a multivitamin and mineral supplement that serves as the basis for a variety of nutritional products. The company specializes in creating packages designed to support specific health needs by combining its multivitamins with other supplements, most of which are proprietary products developed by the company.

About the Company

Based in Idaho, Melaleuca has been in business for 30 years. It produces and sells a line of nutritional products, including multivitamins and minerals, specialty supplements, weight-loss products, herbal teas and energy drinks. It also sells bath, body and skin care products, nontoxic household cleaners and first-aid products.

The company offers bottles of multivitamins and prepackaged supplements that contain the vitamins plus three to 11 other supplements. These packages are targeted to specific groups, such as men, women and people over the age of 50, as well as particular health needs, from heart, bone, eye and brain support to probiotics and supplements that boost the immune system.

Multivitamin Contents

Whether you get a single bottle of multivitamins or they’re included in a specialized package, most of the multivitamins contain the same mix of nutrients. They have vitamins A, C, D, E and K, plus all eight of the B vitamins: thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, niacin, biotin, folate, vitamin B-6 and vitamin B-12.

The dose of each nutrient is determined by research-recommended amounts, reports Melaleuca. Each tablet contains 35 percent of the daily value of vitamin K, 50 percent of vitamin D and 60 percent of vitamin A. They also supply 500 percent of the daily value of vitamin B-6, 1,000 percent of thiamin and riboflavin, and 100 percent to 375 percent of the daily value for the remaining nutrients.

Minerals With Multivitamins

The multivitamin tablets also contain calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc, and the trace minerals selenium, copper, manganese, chromium and molybdenum. You’ll get 25 percent of the daily value for calcium, 50 percent of iron and about 100 percent to 150 percent of the other minerals.

The minerals in Melaleuca's multivitamin products are chelated, or bound, with an amino acid oligofructose complex. Some minerals are easier for your body to absorb into the bloodstream when they're in chelated form.

Peak Performance Packs

Peak performance packs contain the same multivitamins and minerals, then build from there, adding in nutrients in the same way that athletes stack supplements to enhance results and performance.

The basic peak performance package includes omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and proprietary blends of herbs and phytochemicals that support blood vessels, digestive health and the immune system. The nutrients are divided into packets and you take one in the morning and one in the evening.

Some of the peak performance packs also contain extra vitamins. For example, the antioxidant supplement has vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E. Peak Performance Total Health comes with a brain acuity supplement that adds more vitamin E, folic acid and vitamin B-12.
