As the star of high profile action films including Rambo and Rocky, Sylvester Stallone's livelihood depends in part on his ability to stay in shape. Stallone continues to work out to stay in shape as he gets older, and continues to play leading roles in action movies as of 2011. By following Stallone's workout routine, you can keep yourself in shape as well. Stallone describes his daily workout routine in his book, "Sly Moves."

Arm and Leg Workouts

When working on your arms, isolate each area and focus on that specific muscle. Stallone uses curls to work on his biceps; hangs and rollers to work on his wrists and forearms; and pulldowns, pushdowns and extensions to improve his triceps. When working his legs, Stallone does stepups, leg curls, calf raises, lunges and leg presses, as each of these exercises works a different part of the leg. Stallone goes for a well-balanced look so that he won't appear too heavy for a role.

Core Workouts

When Stallone works on his abs, he does broomstick twists, floor crunches, hanging raises and twisting crunches. To keep his workouts fresh, Stallone chooses different abdominals exercises to complete each day. Stallone's back exercises include dumbbell shrugs, upright and seated rows, hyper-extensions, pulldowns and bent-over laterals. Because each exercise isolates a different part of his back, he will usually choose somewhere between one and five of these drills daily.

Cardio Workouts

Stallone begins each workout with cardio, by spending 5 minutes on a cardio machine of his choice. This gets his heart racing and helps him leave the stress of the day behind. He then finishes every workout with a cardio finale, using any two cardio machines for 10 minutes each. He wants this workout to reach an intensity level of eight or nine out of 10, which will flush the toxins from the body.

Finding the Time

Stallone remains busy, but he makes his exercise routine a high priority. He treats each workout like an appointment that he has booked and he never misses an appointment. By treating each workout as an essential appointment, you can ensure that you give yourself enough time daily.
