The Nintendo Wii is known for its fitness games, which encompass aerobics, strength training, yoga and even Pilates. The console's motion-sensitive controllers and accessories track the player's performance during the Pilates exercises, and in-game virtual trainers offer instructions and feedback. Some Wii games focus exclusively on Pilates, while others incorporate Pilates into a multi-exercise fitness game.

Daisy Fuentes Pilates

The former MTV personality and cover girl serves as the workout guide in "Daisy Fuentes Pilates." This game includes 10 Pilates exercises: bicycle, double leg circle, toe taps, pelvic bridge, side leg work, hundred, mermaid, neck pull, roll up and saw. "Daisy Fuentes Pilates" has three difficulty levels, so it's suitable for both newcomers and experienced Pilates practitioners. Voice-over instructions can be set to English or Spanish, and the game is compatible with the Wii balance board. The workout customization feature in "Daisy Fuentes Pilates" allows the user to set her own routines for targeting specific areas of the body.

"NewU Mind Body Yoga & Pilates Workout"

This game features more than 100 yoga and Pilates exercises designed to work the body and improve relaxation. Players have a choice of three "live" in-game trainers who demonstrate the exercises in video, which might provide a welcome change from the animated avatars that populate most Wii games. "Yoga & Pilates Workout" is compatible with the balance board and Wii MotionPlus accessories, and also has a workout customization feature that helps players determine the best way to work their problem areas.

"My Fitness Coach"

"My Fitness Coach" includes nearly 500 exercises and is designed as an all-around workout game. The game asks for information such as height, weight, measurements and heart rate to help players meet their exercise goals. Players also can enter any workout equipment they have at home, such as weights and steppers, and "My Fitness Coach" will incorporate these tools into the workout. The Pilates, kickboxing, cardio, yoga and other activities in "My Fitness Coach" are performed without game controllers: The Wii remote is used to enter information and make menu selections, but doesn't play a part in the exercises.

Wii Accessories

The Wii remote, which comes with every console, is the only controller needed to play these Pilates games, but Wii accessories might enhance the game play experience. For example, the Wii balance board measures game performance in "Daisy Fuentes Pilates" and gives the player a rating for compatible exercises. Wii MotionPlus, a device that attaches to the base of the Wii remote, increases the accuracy of the controller.
