Fresh, homemade juices can be a great nutritional supplement for almost any diet. Vegetable juices in particular contain high amounts of vitamins and minerals in their raw form. Though specific juice cleanses are purported to improve health by some alternative health experts such as Linda Page in "Linda Page's Healthy Healing," you can drink juice daily along with eating a normal, healthy diet. Some juices are even purported to help with weight loss. Look for juices that help with digestion and contain filling fiber.
Carrot Cucumber Beet Juice
One vegetable juice noted by author Steven Bailey in his book, "Juice Alive: The Ultimate Guide to Juicing Remedies," is carrot, cucumber and beet juice. Juice three carrots, 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 beet, one garlic clove and two stalks of burdock root in a juicer. This should make about 14 oz. of juice. Bailey recommends drinking this mixture once or twice a day as part of a healthy diet.
Carrot Green Bean Artichoke Juice
Bailey recommends another juice for weight loss which mixes carrots, green beans and Jerusalem artichokes. Juice 2 medium carrots, 4 oz. green beans, 2 medium Jerusalem artichokes and 1 garlic clove. This should make about 10 oz. of juice. Bailey notes this drink should be consumed one to three times daily. The carrot green bean artichoke juice supports healthy weight loss through improving nutritional deficiencies.
Skinny Dip
Carole Jacobs, in her book, "Juicing Book: All You Need to Create Delicious Juices for Your Optimum Health," offers a recipe for a "Skinny Dip" juice for weight loss. Juice one lemon and one lime with their rinds intact and add 1 cup of sparkling water. This should yield about 1 1/4 cup of juice. Jacobs notes that lemon juice helps to improve your digestion, which is essential when it comes to losing weight.
Apple Yammer
Another juice that Jacobs recommends for weight loss is called the "Apple Yammer." Juice one yam that is cut into pieces with one cored red apple. This particular juice is high in vitamins A and C, and also adds fiber to your diet, filling you up. It's a juice that can satisfy your sweet tooth without too many calories or fat.
