How to Use the Kegelmaster

If you suffer from fecal or urinary incontinence, or if you just had a baby, you may find you need to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. Some women use traditional Kegel exercises to tighten these muscles, while others prefer Kegel weights or devices like the Kegelmaster. The Kegelmaster is a resistance exercise device that you squeeze closed with your pelvic floor muscles.

Step 1

Feel around the device with your fingers to check for seams or sharp edges. Sand these down with an emery board or emery cloth. Wash the Kegelmaster in warm water to remove any packing or sanding dust.

Step 2

Assemble your Kegelmaster by unscrewing the device, opening it at the hinge and placing the included spring on the spring post. Close the Kegelmaster, making sure both sides of the spring post come together inside the spring. Turn the handle to secure the device into a closed position.

Step 3

Get into a comfortable position either sitting or lying down with your legs spread wide apart. Coat the tip of the Kegelmaster with personal lubricant for easier, more comfortable insertion.

Step 4

Slide the tip of the Kegelmaster into your vagina, making sure the knob is facing upward. Prepare yourself for the sensation of pressure and unscrew the knob to open up your Kegelmaster.

Step 5

Use your pelvic floor muscles to squeeze the Kegelmaster shut. Hold that closed position for 2 seconds, then relax for 2 seconds. Do this sequence of squeezing and relaxing 10 times, then rest for at least 15 to 20 seconds. Start another set of ten. Complete that set, rest for 15 to 20 seconds and complete your third and final set.

Step 6

Squeeze the device closed one last time and tighten the knob. Remove and wash immediately with warm water and mild soap.
