Weighted vests are commonly worn during exercise to increase the intensity of the exercises. While the weighted vests are designed to fit tight against your body allowing you to perform nearly any exercise, some weighted vests don't contain enough adjustments for a tight fit. The best weighted vest, however, uses a specific design and multiple adjustment points for minimal vest movement during the workout. According to Coach John Davies, founder of Renegade Training, the XVest is the best weighted vest. It has been used by numerous professional athletes in the Olympics, NFL, MLB and NBA.
Function
The XVest's basic function is to provide additional resistance for training or exercise. You can use the XVest for a wide range of conditioning exercises, based on your specific sport. After removing the XVest after a workout, you trick your mind and muscles into thinking they are capable of more strength, power, endurance, speed and quickness.
Design
The XVest's design allows for various adjustments. A two-piece clamshell design incorporates orthopedic back braces for proper spinal alignment and support. The two-piece clamshell is brought together with adjustable shoulder straps and wide elastic lateral hook-and-loop fastener straps around your waist to keep the weight properly centered on the body. By keeping an optimal center of gravity, you perform the exercises using a full range of motion for a safe and effective workout.
Weight
The XVest comes in three models, ranging in maximum weights from 20, 40 and 84 lbs. You can add or remove weight with the 1-lb. steel sticks that slide into the integrated pouches on the outside of the vest. The 20-lb. vest is designed for beginning to intermediate men and women using it for general fitness and weight loss. The 40-lb. vest is for intermediate to advanced users, including collegiate and professional athletes wanting increased speed, endurance, strength and quickness. The 84-lb. vest is intended for advanced users, such as professional athletes, military soldiers and experienced weightlifters.
Exercises
You can use the XVest for nearly any exercise and can be customized to match the metabolic demands of your specific sport. Using the XVest for plyometrics, speed training or agility drills can improve speed, quickness and jumping ability for athletes. Using the XVest for bodyweight exercises such as pushups, pullups, squats or lunges can improve overall strength and fitness levels.
