The Total Gym is a home gym system that uses pure body weight for resistance. Total Gyms are endorsed by celebrities Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley, who use the Total Gym for strength training and weight loss. There are three Total Gym models available, with the Total Gym XLS being the top of the line. Total Gyms are sold online and at select retailers.

Features

The Total Gym system uses pure body weight for resistance and is capable of up to 80 different exercises. The pulley and cable system, gliding bench, frame and other components are designed to handle up to a 400-pound weightload. The XLS model can be upgraded with a squat stand and includes a padded glide board with head support. The home gym's design incorporates a folding feature, allowing you to collapse the gym to only 9 inches in height. The hardware and frame has a chrome finish, and the pulley system comes with flexible nylon strap handles

Accessories

A line of accessories adds to the number of total exercises you can perform on the XLS. A squat stand attaches to the bottom of the gliding track, while a wing attachment can be added to the top. The wing attachment has two sets of angled grips which enable you to perform lateral pull downs. A leg pull accessory allows you to perform a variety of leg exercises through the use of an ankle strap that also wraps around your heel for stability. Finally, Total Gym's pilates kit includes a pair of ankle straps, a resistance band, bar and instructional guide for your personalized pilates workout.

Workouts

The XLS comes with a line of workouts and helpful tips and tools to help you exercise and reach your fitness goals. The workout package includes guidelines to your first Total Gym workout, a six- to eight-minute workout plan that consists of 12 individual workouts designed for a busy lifestyle, a workout guide, a body makeover strategy, an exercise wall chart that includes 35 illustrated exercises, a personal training system and a nutrition program and meal plan.

Exercises

The Total Gym EXL's 80 different exercises work the entire body. Isolation exercises target the abdominals, arms, back, chest, legs and shoulders, while other exercises involve more than one body part and muscle group. A number of pilates exercises are also possible, even without the pilates kit.

Warranty

The Total Gym XLS comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame, as well as six months of coverage for every part. The home gym can be tried for up to 30 days with options on how to pay and is delivered free of charge.
