How to Lose Weight in a Few Days

Speedy weight loss can sometimes seem impossible. However, by following a straightforward plan, you can shed pounds in a matter of days, all the while adopting new habits to incorporate into a healthier lifestyle.

Step 1

Drink eight to 10 glasses of water a day. Each glass should contain 8 ounces, and you should evenly spread them throughout the day, so that you stay hydrated at all times. Getting enough water helps your body flush out fat faster, resulting in quicker weight loss.

Step 2

Throw away any junk food in your home and stop eating at fast-food restaurants. Chips, cookies, cakes, processed and frozen foods are often high in fat, sugar, cholesterol and salt, all of which work to keep fat on your body. Removing the unhealthy snacking temptation will encourage weight loss.

Step 3

Have fresh vegetables and fruits on hand as healthy additions to meals and as snack alternatives. Stock up on carrots, celery, salad greens, apples, oranges, bananas and any other produce you like. These foods are high in fiber and low in calories, which means you'll feel full after eating them, but you won't gain weight because of it.

Step 4

Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Just moving around burns calories, but concentrated exercise that gets your heart rate up will burn more calories in a shorter time, which is key for losing weight in a few days.

Step 5

Cut your portions by 20 percent. Start by putting down your knife and fork when 20 percent of your food remains on the plate. You probably won't feel stuffed, but you should feel satisfied. You should never feel full after a meal: This means you've overeaten. Once you've mastered the 20-percent reduction, the next step is to simply take smaller portions.
