Losing weight takes work, no matter how many quick fixes seem to be available. Nothing will cause permanent weight loss in just three days. Still, there are certain diets that may cause faster weight loss than others while still taking a sustainable approach. Whatever diet you chose to embark on to lose weight, make sure it is both a healthy choice of which your doctor approves and a way of life you can follow for years to come.
Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet has become a household name over the last 10 years as it gained popularity within the field of weight loss. The idea behind Atkins is that carbohydrates actually cause you to gain fat and weight, while both protein and fat are used efficiently by the body through a process called ketosis. This diet purportedly stimulates weight reduction quickly, as you switch from eating a carbohydrate-heavy diet to a protein- and fat-focused diet. The main concern with this diet is that it is hard on the kidneys and some people cannot handle the high saturated fat content.
The No-Time to Lose Diet
The No-Time to Lose Diet, created by Dr. Melina Jampolis, focuses on following rules in order to lose weight quickly. These principles include eating some form of protein with every meal and snack and eating every three to four hours. The third principle is to eat the right amount of carbohydrates at the right time, which basically means eating unrefined carbohydrates at times where you can work them off so they will not turn into fat. Jampolis also looks at the psychology of healthy eating, including always planning ahead and getting rid of the all-or-nothing mentality.
Eat to Live
Another diet that is purported to help with quick weight loss is the Eat to Live diet by Joel Fuhrman. In the book by the same name, Fuhrman discusses his six-week plan for weight loss, which includes a focus on eating raw vegetables, steamed or cooked green vegetables, legumes and fresh fruits. You also have to eliminate animal and dairy products on this diet and include flax seed daily. Fuhrman also believes in the "90-percent rule," which essentially states that the foods listed above should make up 90 percent of your diet.
Fasting
Fasting is another way to lose weight quickly, though it is neither recommended nor a healthy option. Though some religions traditionally fast for certain periods of time, and these may fit into your lifestyle for moral reasons, long periods of consuming no food or water are damaging to your health.
If you do decide to fast, first check with your doctor and read about it extensively. Learn about the negative consequences such as low blood sugar, headaches, nausea and the eventual systematic breakdown of bones and tissues so that your body can survive.
