Wheatgrass, is commonly known as Couch grass, Dog grass, Durfa grass Quack grass and scientifically known as Triticum aestivium. It is a particularly rich source of nutrients and can be added to your daily meals either as a juice or as a vegetable. Wheatgrass contains significant amounts of vitamins A, C and E; minerals such as calcium, iron and magnesium; chlorophyll; and several amino acids. This study involved 30 animal subjects and authors noted that the antioxidant effects of wheatgrass appeared to be responsible for the decreasing of total blood cholesterol levels and increasing good or HDL cholesterol as well as the vitamin C blood levels.

In "The Wheatgrass Book," author Ann Wigmore explains the myriad health benefits of wheatgrass. She suggests that a major reason for wheatgrass's effectiveness is its significant amount of chlorophyll, which helps increase the oxygen supply to the heart.

A healthy diet and daily exercises will also help keep your heart healthy.
