Baby fat and chubby cheeks might be qualities that make infants and little kids adorable, but as you get older, the desire to have a slim, firm face tends to increase. It is important to remember that facial exercises cannot help you lose weight in your face, as spot reduction is not possible. Diet and exercise are the appropriate means of losing weight overall. Facial exercises can help tone and strengthen your facial muscles following weight loss.

Palming

Palming is a facial yoga exercise that can help relax your face, improve circulation and release stress. Sit in a comfortable char with your back straight against the back of the chair. Close your eyes. Breathe in and out through your nose as you rub the palms of your hands together until they feel warm. Then cup your warm hands over your eyes. Hold this position for a few seconds. Repeat five times. This exercise helps soothe and exercise the area around your eyes.

Clenched Smile

A clenched smile exercise helps relieve stress and tension, increase circulation and strengthen the muscles around your lips, cheeks, neck and chin. Clench your teeth together and open your lips -- as if you were smiling -- as far as you can. You will feel a stretch in the areas of your face surrounding your lips, as well as in your cheeks, chin and neck. Hold this position for five seconds. Relax and repeat. Complete five times.

Lion

The lion will help strengthen and tone the muscles surrounding your mouth and eyes. Relax and take a deep breath. As you exhale, open your mouth as wide as possible. Stick your tongue out as far as you possibly can. As you do this, open your eyes as wide as possible and say "arghhh." This will help improve circulation, stimulate your eyes, and relieve and strengthen the throat as well as your face. Repeat five times.

Cheek Pinches

Simply smiling and pinching your cheeks can help improve circulation and the overall appearance of your skin. Grab small pieces of your cheeks and squeeze. Squeeze as tightly as possible without hurting or cutting yourself. Hold this position for five seconds. Relax and repeat five times.

Pucker Up

A lip exercise can help strengthen and define your facial muscles. Sit up straight. Position your teeth and lips together, then smile as big as you possibly can without letting your teeth peek through. Hold this position for five seconds. Relax your face and assume kissing position -- pucker up. Hold this position for a count of five seconds. Relax and repeat the entire exercise 10 times.
