On your quest for the best yoga pants, focus on priorities. Some people aim for comfort, others for durability. You might want to pay for high quality, organic fabric or a designer label, or you might want the best yoga pants you can get for a bargain. Excellent yoga pants move with you. Finally, if you are enduring all those poses, you want yoga pants that show off your assets.

Best Yoga Pant Styles

Yoga pants come in many styles, and your choice of what is best will have to do with the type of yoga you practice. People doing gentle or restorative yoga will want a light, breathable cotton yoga pant that goes to the ankle or past the knee, protecting the legs during the extensive floor poses. Hot yoga enthusiasts need more fitted styles that stay with them as they move, and often prefer Capri cuts or shorts.

Best Yoga Pant Fabrics

While the go-to fabric for yoga wear has typically been cotton or cotton combined with a stretchy fabric, some new fabrics have made inroads in the area of contemporary yoga pants. Blue Canoe creates yoga wear from organic cotton and natural fibers. Be Present creates high-tech active wear from recycled resources. Patagonia manufactures ecologically friendly sportswear with Tencel, a cellulose fiber from eucalyptus trees.

Bargain Yoga Pants

Sometimes a bargain is not worth it, as in the case of yoga pants that fall apart or stretch out after a few wearings and washings. For a budget-minded yoga student, consider the moderately priced line at Victoria's Secret or the cheaper C9 line sold at Target.

Flattering Yoga Pants

Certain features make yoga pants more flattering for people's figures. Look for a touch of stretch in your fabric content, typically provided by spandex or Lycra. You do not want 100 percent synthetic fabric, which can make it look as if your body is squeezed into the pants. Lucy's Perfect Core yoga pant has panels on the abdominal and back areas to support potential problem areas. Hip but expensive, Lulemon's yoga line features flattering cuts and bright waistbands that roll down.
