The Perfect Pushup is an exercise equipment set that comprises two handles that swivel as you perform pushups on them. Although small, the official website for the Perfect Pushup suggests that the handles can safely support a 200 lb. user. Because of its similarity to standard pushups, the Perfect Pushup may be an effective piece of equipment for improving your fitness level.
Perfect Pushup Motion
To perform pushups on the Perfect Pushup, assume a normal pushup position, except with your hands gripping the Perfect Pushup handles instead of placed on the floor. At the top of the motion, the handles should be oriented side to side, rather than up and down. As you lower your body, the handles should rotate.
Primary Muscles Worked
As the American Council on Exercise explains, the motion of the pushup involves several muscles. The main muscles which the Perfect Pushup will develop are your pectorals, or chest muscles, your deltoids, or shoulder muscles, and your triceps, which are located on the back of your upper arms.
Secondary Muscles
The motion of the Perfect Pushup also involves several muscles that help to stabilize your body during the exercise. The American Council on Exercise explains that your rhomboids and erector spinae, which are back muscles, as well as your quadriceps, glutes and abdominal muscles all help stabilize your body during a pushup motion.
Adapting to Your Fitness Level
If you develop the muscles enough so that the Perfect Pushup is no longer challenging, you can manipulate the equipment to alter the workout. According to Perfect Fitness, you can make workouts easier by doing pushups with your knees on the floor rather than your feet. To make the workout more difficult, use the Perfect Pushup with your feet on a chair.
