How to Remove Internal Anal Warts

Internal anal warts, also known as genital warts or condylomata acuminata, are one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. According to the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), symptoms of internal anal warts include flesh-colored or gray swellings that can group together and resemble a cauliflower. Bleeding, itchiness and mucus discharge from your rectum are additional symptoms. If you think you have internal anal warts, there are specific steps to remove them.

Step 1

Go to your surgeon and schedule a surgical excision of your internal anal warts. In this procedure, you will receive local anesthesia via injection and your doctor will use special surgical instruments to remove you internal anal warts. According to ASCRS, this surgery provides fast results.

Step 2

Obtain laser treatment to remove your internal anal warts. Your surgeon will use an intense beam of light to eradicate your warts. According to the Mayo Clinic, this is an expensive procedure reserved for difficult-to-reach warts.

Step 3

Schedule follow-up visits with your doctor as internal anal warts can recur. Your doctor will repeat Steps 1 or 2 depending on the location of your internal anal wart.
