How fast you lose weight depends on how much of a calorie deficit you can create in your body on a daily basis while you still maintain your good health. A calorie deficit means that your body is burning more calories in energy than you are consuming in food. Some forms of cardio exercise are better than others at burning off calories and, therefore, helping you lose weight.

Running

Running at a consistent speed of 8 mph for one hour is the most efficient form of cardio for burning off calories, according to MayoClinic.com. This speed would be most easily maintained on a treadmill. People weighing 160 lbs., 200 lbs., and 240 lbs. can expect to lose 986, 1,229 and 1,472 calories in the session; these results depend on the person's personal fitness level and how stressful her body will find the workout.

Circuit Training

Enroll in a circuit training class at your local gym or design your own. Circuit training is a cardio session which involves different work stations, normally number 12 in all. Each work station is a different type of exercise, such as light free weights, body weight and resistance or cardio machine. You spend a short period at each station before quickly moving on to the next, never allowing the body to adjust.

Hyper-Intensity Interval Training

Hyper-intensity interval training is an effective weight loss method. It is a strategy which you can apply to almost any form of exercise -- from cycling, running and swimming to team sports and even weightlifting. It involves varying the level of intensity at which you work out so as to prevent the body entering a comfort zone. Intervals are short and will often be one minute maximum intensity followed by two minutes of low intensity.

Active Hobby

Taking up an active hobby is probably the easiest way to start losing weight because, due to it being fun, there is not the need for daily willpower to get the cardio done. Activities like rollerblading, rock climbing and aerobics are great fat burners while team sports like basketball and volleyball also burn off the calories as well as have a social aspect to them, too.
