Collarbone Breathing Techniques

Collarbone breathing techniques are a relaxation breathing method that were developed as a part of the emotional freedom techniques, or EFT. According to EFT Universe, emotional freedom techniques are designed to be a healing system that can help health, psychological and performance problems by helping eliminate stress.

Emotional Freedom Techniques

According to EFT Masters, emotional freedom techniques are an emotional healing process that involve tapping with the fingertips on various pressure points. The idea is that the process is a relaxation and concentration activity that will calm you and relieve stress. By tapping pressure points, like in acupuncture, you are able to calm your body's energy and help release negative feelings.

Collarbone Breathing Techniques

Collarbone breathing techniques are also known as collarbone breathing and are one of the most advanced EFT moves. According to EFT Masters, collarbone breathing is used for chronic and complex problems when emotional freedom techniques are not working or are working too slowly. Collarbone breathing still involves tapping on the collarbone area while you perform specific breathing patterns and techniques to reduce stress and calm your nerves.

Breathing Positions

According to EFT Masters, collarbone breathing techniques use five breathing positions, which are rotated during the tapping process so that you perform each one in succession. These positions are the normal breath and in-deep-and-hold breath. The halfway-in-and-hold breath involves taking a half breath and holding the position, as does the out-halfway-and-hold breath. The breathe-out-fully-and-hold position involves you taking a full exhale and holding that position. EFT Masters says you should hold the positions for a second or two and always breathe in through your nose and out via your mouth.

Process

To perform collarbone breathing, you will start on either the left side of your collarbone or the right, and then upon completing one side, move and perform the same routine on the other side. If you start on the left, start by placing your left fingers on the left side of your collarbone, and tap the left hand and collarbone softly and slowly with your right hand while you simultaneously perform the five breathing positions in succession. Then you should bend your left hand until your knuckles only are on the collarbone, and repeat the process. Finally, you will repeat the entire sequence on the right side of your collarbone. EFT Masters reminds you to keep your arms and elbows away from your body and make sure that they do not touch your body during the exercise.
