So many of the weight-loss plans out there are overly complicated, making it next to impossible to commit to or let alone understand how to go about shedding pounds. However, there is a fast and straightforward way to lose weight, without all the complications of formal plans and gym memberships.

Step 1

Stop drinking soda. Clear them out of your home and opt for tea or water when going out instead. Sodas are high in calories yet contain no nutrition, so they merely pack on pounds without any benefits.

Step 2

Stop eating unhealthy snacks. If you have chips, cookies, cakes, ice cream or other unhealthy treats in your home, get rid of them right away. They'll only serve to tempt you into deviating from your diet. This will make it much easier for you to choose healthier snacks as well. A piece of fruit will seem much more appealing when there are no cookies to tickle your fancy.

Step 3

Always eat breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day. Eat a low-calorie cereal topped with fruit, a glass of juice and whole-grain toast in the morning. This offers your body energy to get to lunch and makes your metabolism kick into high gear, so it'll already be burning more calories once lunch arrives.

Step 4

Don't eat before bed. Though it might be tempting to snack while watching late-night TV, resist. Stop eating 2 to 3 hours before you go to sleep. To do otherwise is to fuel your body and then lie down. That means all those calories you consumed won't be burned off through activity and will be stored instead--a definite inhibitor for weight loss.

Step 5

Jog, bike or swim every day, no excuses. Getting up and getting moving for at least 30 minutes a day is the best way to burn calories. Whether you take an aerobics class or follow a kickboxing video doesn't matter. What does is that your heart rate is elevated and you break a sweat.
