Nike and Apple have teamed together to give runners a method to track runs and listen to music at the same time. Nike+ shoes have an area where you can place a receiver. The Nike+ Sport Kit connects with the iPod, so you can get timed runs, track the distance and know how many calories you've burned after the workout. These two items can even give you the motivation to keep going and improve your cardio workouts.

Step 1

Lift the insole of the left Nike+ shoe. There is a small pocket where you place the iPod Sport Kit sensor. You can leave this sensor in your shoe even when you're not running.

Step 2

Insert the receiver into the iPod's docking station connector. The connector is located beside the headphone connector. Ensure the receiver is tightly attached to the connector.

Step 3

Set the iPod for your favorite workout. Each workout listed on the iPod sets a time and shows you how many calories you will lose during the workout. Once chosen, the iPod's timer will begin.

Step 4

Start your run, jog or walk. As you take a step, the sensor sends a signal to the receiver to keep track of your steps. This tracks the distance of your workout.

Step 5

View the iPod to see the distance and time for your workout. The timer counts down to zero and sets an alarm once you've finished. Included in the information is the distance received from the sensor in the shoe.
