Meltdown weight loss refers to VPX Meltdown Fat Assault, a weight loss supplement manufactured by VPX Sports Nutrition. VPX Meltdown Fat Assault touts itself as "the most powerful and university researched fat burner ever," and the producers claim it can increase your metabolism of fat by 56 percent. However, critics point out that VPX Meltdown does not include ingredients clinically proven to suppress appetite or stimulate weight loss, and that taking the supplements can be dangerous for people with certain conditions. Speak to your doctor before taking VPX Meltdown or any other non-FDA regulated dietary supplement.
Use and Function
According to VPX Sports Nutrition, VPX Meltdown is designed to do two things: To stimulate fat metabolism and to protect the body's levels of norepinephrine, a hormone essential in the use of fat as energy. The supplement is advertised as being capable of increasing your norepinephrine levels by as much as 93 percent and switching your metabolism to exclusively fat-burning, not muscle-burning, mode. The manufacturers advise that three VPX Meltdown capsules taken in the morning is the recommended serving, but they warn that if you have never taken Meltdown before, you should begin by taking only one or two capsules a day.
Ingredients
VPX Meltdown Fat Assault contains six groups of ingredients -- a Fat Catabolizer and B-3 Potentiator mix, a Lipolytic Trigger, a Super Synephrine B-3 Activator, an Iphoric Potent Methyl B-PEA Matrix, a NorEpiphex a-2Andrenergic Blockade Complex and a NorEphiphex M-MAOxidizor-I. The first four groups contain ingredients alleged to increase fat metabolism, including yerba mate extract, caffeine anhydrous, 3-5 cAMP, methyl synephrine HCL and R-beta methylphenylethlamine. The last two groups include 11-hydroxy yohimbine, yohimbine HCL and methyl-hordenine HCL, all ingredients that VPX Sports Nutrition claims will increase your circulating levels of norepinephrine.
Advantages and Disadvantages
VPX Meltdown Fat Assault is expensive, and the claims made by its manufacturers are not backed by unbiased scientific evidence. VPX Meltdown is not safe for pregnant or nursing women or for people suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma, heart disease, thyroid disease or any psychiatric or neurological condition, including depression. Side effects can include dizziness, headaches, difficulty breathing, nausea, anxiety and insomnia.
The manufacturers strongly suggest that the supplements not be used for weight loss and that users do not exceed the recommend dosage. They do, however, recommend that VPX Meltdown is best used in conjunction with a healthy, low-calorie diet and regular exercise.
Considerations
As a dietary supplement, VPX Meltdown Fat Assault does not come under the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration, and is therefore not regulated for effectiveness, purity or safety. Avoid using VPX Meltdown until you've spoken to your personal physician about the possible benefits and health risks involved.
