The most popular cleats or shoes in baseball are primarily based on five factors: Brand, price, performance, style and what the professional players use. However, for most people, it is the brand that really catches the eye. Nike, Adidas and Mizuno are considered the top brands when it comes to baseball cleats, not because of how well they make cleats but because of aggressive marketing campaigns spearheaded by having the most popular professional baseball players endorse their products. Hence, sporting goods stores must always stock up on some of the high selling cleats from these brands for better revenue.
Nike Jeter Mid Baseball Cleats
Derek Jeter is considered to be one of the best players in baseball today. And, due to his popularity, backed up by his excellent style of play, Nike signed him as one of its top endorsers. In fact, Nike even created a baseball cleat in his name. The Nike Jeter baseball cleat is a mid-cut shoe made out of soft meshed leather with the traditional Zoom Air technology at the heel. The cleats are made of metal while the interior provides for proper ventilation. It is light and very flexible and is part of the very popular Air Jordan line. Priced at roughly $95 retail, as of 2011, the pair comes in either a white or a black variant.
Nike Monster Shox Baseball Cleats
Like Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez is considered a baseball god. Nike saw this and signed him as well. And, he now endorses this particular pair of cleats. The Nike Monster Shox baseball cleats uses the proprietary Nike Shox technology fitted with a Prebax plate for maximum comfort and stability. It is fitted with metal cleats and is priced at about $115 as 2011. The shoe comes in a gray and black color combination and is made with a synthetic mesh to help keep the feet warm and dry.
Mizuno Classic G6
Not as popular as some of the cleats from Nike, the classic G6 is a high selling pair due to its two-tone color options and its multi-terrain metal spikes. It comes in black and white, red and white, navy blue and white and royal blue and white color combinations. The metal cleats are great for all kinds of terrain conditions, be it wet or dry. The classic G6 is also the shoe of choice of Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners. Mizuno prices this product as of 2011 at $95 retail.
Adidas DK Lightning
Priced at $79 in 2011, Adidas' DK Lightning men's cleats challenge the most popular cleats coming from Nike and Mizuno. And, they do so in style. It comes in a black or red, glossy finish with a synthetic leather mesh that allows for maximum ventilation. It features a TPU plate that is cored out which allows significant weight reduction and more stability. Fitted with 9 metal cleats, the DK Lightning is the shoe of choice for players that want optimal traction. While there is no specific professional endorser for this particular pair, it still outsells most due to its design and cost-effectiveness.
