Weight loss is a journey that requires time and dedication. There will be weeks that your diet and workouts are spot on, and there will be days when you lack motivation. Don't let down periods completely derail your weight-loss efforts. Take steps to be prepared for the times when you need an extra push.

Recruit a Support Team

Recruit your family and friends to help you reach your weight-loss goals. Ask your friends to prepare a healthful food option for you to eat at parties and gatherings. Have your family make a few healthful dishes for holiday dinners so you aren't tempted break your diet.

Gym Buddies

Ask a friend from the gym to be an accountability partner. Agree to work out at least three to four days per week. Don't allow yourselves to back out of the day's workout. Help push each other through exercises when you feel like quitting.

Goal Reminders

Write down your goal weight with a deadline date on a sticky note. Place the notes in areas where you can see them daily for motivation. Stick them to the bathroom mirror, refrigerator or on your desk at the office.

Reward Yourself

Reward yourself for small accomplishments, such as sticking to your diet for the week or successfully performing a new challenging exercise. Treat yourself to a new pair of gym shoes or a manicure. Find ways to reward yourself without ruining your diet. Try not to use food as a reward.
