The Ironman 400E is a single-station gym that features a padded bench and backrest, padded lat bars and padded leg extension rollers. A square steel base and uprights support the bench, the overhead pull-down assembly and the weight stack. Due to the overall weight of the unit, it is best to assemble the equipment at the location where you plan to do workouts. In addition, two people are needed in order to position the components and bolt the attachments during assembly of Ironman 400E weightlifting equipment.
Step 1
Organize the components in the workout area. Identify each component and accessory by referring to the parts list included with the instructions. Label each part with the appropriate part number using self-stick labels and a felt marker.
Step 2
Organize the bolts and spacers according to size. Select sockets and open-end wrenches that fit the bolt heads and nuts. Put a washer on each bolt. You install the other washers on the threaded end of the bolts before threading the nuts and tightening the connections.
Step 3
Review the illustrations and step-by-step procedures in the instructions. Typical assembly begins with the base, uprights and overhead pull-down components.
Step 4
Assemble the base and attach the main uprights at the front of the machine. Put the floor protection cups on the base. Bolt the upper supports and overhead pull-down arm to the top of the uprights.
Step 5
Build the individual accessories and attach them on the machine. These include the lat bars, weight stack rods and the leg raise assembly.
Step 6
Install the pulleys at the lower end of the leg roller assembly, the base of the weight stack, the end of each lat arm and the overhead pull-down arm. Use the provided nylon washers, spacers and retainer clips when installing the pulleys.
Step 7
Feed the cables through the pulleys. Attach one end of each cable at the stable point shown in the instructions. Attach the accessory clips to the free ends of the cables.
Step 8
Attach the padded bench and backrest to the horizontal frame rails and uprights.
Put the arm pads on the lat arms. Put the upper and lower rollers on the leg raise assembly. Stack the weights on the weight rods and insert the selector pin into the stack.
Tips and Warnings
- Refer to the instructions and illustrations as you go. Insert bolts and hand-tighten nuts at first. Tighten bolts before moving to the next phase of assembly.
