I Need to Lose Weight Very Fast

You are overweight, and you want to drop those excess pounds quickly. While the recommended pace for weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs a week, it is possible to lose weight at a faster rate, particularly if you are obese. However, this can pose risks to your health and should only be done under the supervision of a licensed physician. Speak with your doctor about your weight and how rapidly you should lose it.

Type of Weight Lost

When you lose weight quickly, you may not be getting rid of excess fat. Rather, the weight will come from stored water or even lean muscle tissue, as it is difficult for your body to burn off calories from fat in a short amount of time. Furthermore, this initial weight-loss will most likely slow down after you have dieted and exercised for a few weeks and you begin losing weight from fat.

Diet and Exercise

You need to cut out 3,500 calories to lose 1 lb. of body fat, and the best way to go about this is by eating less and exercising more. Start by taking a look at your diet and reducing your calories. However, men should not eat less than 1,500 calories in a day, and women should not eat less than 1,200, unless directed by a doctor. Daily aerobic exercise of 30 minutes or more will rev up your metabolism, burn fat and tone muscle, and the more you do, the more weight you can lose. Check with your physician to determine how much you can safely exercise in a day, and consider hiring a personal trainer to avoid overexerting or injuring your body.

Very Low Calorie Diet

If you are obese, your doctor may put you on a very low calorie diet. This is usually done to initiate weight-loss or to drop a large amount of pounds over the course of a few weeks or months. You will be required to replace your food with meal bars and shakes, or possibly eat only lean protein, and your daily intake will be roughly 800 calories. This type of diet must be followed under the direct guidance of a licensed doctor to ensure that you will not become malnourished or pose risks to your health.

Considerations

Losing weight very quickly requires you to stick to a strict diet and exercise plan. However, this type of regimen is not meant to last long term. To drop excess pounds and keep them off, you will need to learn how to make overall lifestyle changes to your eating and exercise habits. Losing weight at a slower pace will better enable you to do this.
