Which Weight Scales Are High Tech?

Gone are the days when your only choices for determining your weight were the balance beam scale at your doctor's office or a spring analog scale you had to struggle to read and hope was accurate. Today's high tech scales can literally tell you how much you weigh using computerized voices, help you track weight loss and body fat percentages, and recommend how many calories you should be consuming. They can track more than one person's weight and even download data to your personal computer.

Lifesource

Lifesource's UC-324THW Wireless Scale uses wireless technology to upload your daily weight to your home computer. You can use this scale to track your BMI and weight as you work toward your health goals. This scale comes with a trial of ActiHealth, a website which provides additional tracking features.

Omron

Omron's Body Fat Monitor and Scale allows four people to separately track their weights, BMI and body fat percentage. BMI is reported in four classes from underweight to obese. This scale accommodates women and men, and children age 10 and older.

Soehnle

Soehnle's Body Balance Slim FT5 uses bioelectrical impedance to measure trends in muscle mass, body fat and body water along with the recommended number of calories you should consume each day. It is an excellent choice for active athletes and will recognize up to 8 users. Soehnle offers several scales with a separate wireless digital display for weight readings that display the time when the scale is not in use.

Tanita

Tanita's BC-558 Ironman Segmental Body Composition Monitor uses bioelectrical impedance through foot electrodes and two retractable hand grips to provide separate composition readings---muscle mass and body fat percentage---for the trunk and each arm and leg. The scale also provides total weight, body water percentage, overall body fat, overall muscle mass, BMR, bone mass, metabolic age and visceral fat.

Taylor

Taylor's 7080 Lithium Powered Talking Bath Scale will greet you with a friendly hello in your choice of English, German or French and then announce your weight in pounds, stones or kilograms.

Withings

Withings' WiFi Body Scale automatically sends your weight to personal computer when you step on the scale. Your weight, BMI and body fat are tracked and graphed and available on your personal computer or Internet-capable cell phone.
