A class reunion can be a happy occasion where you see old friends and catch up on past times. But it can also be a high-pressure time when you're face-to-face with old rivals and people you competed with back in the day. Many people want to lose weight before a class reunion, and a few simple tips will help you walk into the room with confidence.

Set a Realistic Goal

Setting goals when it comes to weight loss is one of the most effective ways to keep you motivated and on track. Unless, of course, your goal is completely unrealistic. Setting realistic goals makes it more likely that you'll stick with your weight loss plan. Count the number of weeks until your class reunion and set a goal based on losing between 1 and 2 lbs. per week. For example, if your reunion is 10 weeks out, a realistic goal would be to lose between 10 and 20 lbs.

Find a Support Partner

Trying to lose weight on your own is no fun and can feel like a lonely journey. Find a friend or past acquaintance who will be going to your reunion, or get your spouse or significant other involved in your weight loss efforts. Having someone else who shares your goals and desires will make it more likely for you to follow up on your diet and exercise goals. Talk to your partner when you're struggling to find the motivation to hit the gym. Share recipes and snack ideas for lower-calorie options to control your calories.

Buy an Outfit for Motivation

Some people struggle with motivation in the middle of the weight loss journey and need an extra boost. Buying a reunion outfit that will fit you when you hit your goal weight might be just the push you need to get you through the dark days when you just want to hunker down on the couch. Be realistic with your wardrobe purchase and buy something that fits in line with a realistic weight loss goal. Otherwise, you'll just have wasted money on wishful thinking.

Give In to Temptation

It's unrealistic to expect yourself to give up all the food you crave in one shot when you start your weight loss journey. From time to time, you're going to crave that slice of pizza, bowl of ice cream or delicious brownie. Resisting temptation for too long could potentially lead to binging on your favorite foods. Release the pressure of temptation by giving in every now and then --- but within reason. Make sure your splurges fit within your calorie goals for the day or week. Look for ways to reduce the calories of your craving foods, and eat smaller portions so they don't have as much impact on your weight loss efforts.
