Your lymphatic system is made up of a large network of vessels that transport a clear fluid known as lymph fluid throughout your body. Lymph fluid transports vital nutrients and also eliminates cellular waste. On occasion, your lymphatic system can become blocked. As a result, you may experience depression, weight gain, fatigue, constipation and fatigue. In order to combat problems with your lymphatic system, you can engage in exercises to drain your lymphatic system and release blockages.
Neck Rotations
Neck rotation can help reduce blockages and clogs in your lymphatic system in your neck and shoulder region. Sit or stand with your back straight and your head facing forward. Gently and slowly turn your head to the right as you inhale. Turn as far as you possibly can and count to five. As you exhale, return your head to the starting position. Complete to the left as well. Complete this exercise three times.
Hand Presses
Hand presses can help with lymphatic drainage in your arms. Stand or sit with your back straight and your head facing forward. Place the palms of your hands together at the center of your chest. Bend your elbows outward. Hold this position for a count of four. Relax and repeat three times.
Shoulder Shrugs
Shoulder shrugs can help promote drainage in your shoulders, neck and upper arms. Stand or sit with your back straight. If you choose to sit, do not place your back straight up against the back of a chair. Start with your shoulders relaxed and slowly lift both of your shoulders -- at the same time -- up to your ears as you take a deep breath. Exhale and return to the starting position. Complete three times.
Leg Falls
Leg falls help to promote lymphatic drainage from your hips down. Lie on the ground with your back against the ground. Bend both of your knees so that you can position your feet flat on the floor. Your feet should be facing forward. Keep one leg still as your slowly push your other leg out to the side. Push your leg out as far as possible while keeping your foot on the floor. Bring your leg back to the starting position and repeat with the opposite leg. Repeat three times for each leg.
Ankle Pumps
Ankle pumps can help keep lymph fluid flowing properly in your feet and ankles. Sit with your legs extended on a couch, bed or bench with your feet and ankles hanging over the edge. Move your foot up and down -- similar to the motion you would make if you were accelerating your car or pressing on the breaks. Repeat this exercise 10 times with each foot.
