Triglycerides are a type of blood fat associated with high LDL cholesterol and heart disease. Triglycerides contribute to the hardening and plaque that takes place on artery walls when there is too much bad cholesterol present. Under normal circumstances, a person would not try to raise their triglyceride level because it increases the risk of heart attack and stroke when these levels are too high. Do not attempt to raise your triglyceride levels before talking to a physician.

Step 1

Increase caloric intake. If a person were trying to raise his triglycerides, increasing overall calorie intake would be effective. Triglycerides are essentially calories that are not needed for energy in the body and end up as a storage-molecule form of body fat. Consumption of refined carbohydrates such as white bread, bagels and white pasta seems to contribute to heightened triglyceride levels.

Step 2

Focus the diet on fried foods and trans fats. Consumption of fast-food items, fried foods and packaged desserts such as cakes and cookies contribute to high levels of triglycerides in the body. These foods increase the risk of heart attack and stroke if consumed regularly over a long period of time, as triglycerides are normally intended to be kept at a low level in the body.

Step 3

Avoid exercise and other physical movement. Increasing exercise is a recommended way to lower triglyceride levels, so a person attempting to increase triglycerides in her blood should avoid exercise.
