You might want to invest in a pair of yoga socks if your feet get cold during your practice. Specially designed yoga socks have nonslip bottoms so that your feet will stay put in any posture and are particularly beneficial if you are concerned about hygiene. There are a range of styles to choose from, including the usual type of socks, toe socks and socks with cut-out areas to allow your foot to come into contact with your mat.

ToeSox

ToeSox produces socks with individual toes and a grippy sole, making them ideal for yoga. The individual toes allow you to spread your toes in certain postures, such as the Downward-Facing Dog or the Warrior. ToeSox are made from organic cotton and feature a fitted heel and an arch support band. There are available in two styles and a full range of sizes suitable for both men and women. Choose from full toes or half toes which leave the tips of your toes exposed, rather like fingerless gloves. The full toe socks come in 11 different colors while the half toes come in six. As of March 2011, both styles cost $15.

Gaiam

Gaiam's No Slip Yoga Socks are specially designed for both yoga and Pilates. They feature individual toes and a pattern of grippy dots on the sole, ensuring balance and security throughout your practice. The socks are made primarily from cotton, but they also include nylon, polyester, rubber and spandex. They cost $15.98 for two pairs and are available in two sizes suitable for both men and women.

Stick-e

Stick-e's Yoga Socks have individual, open-ended toes which allow skin-to-mat contact throughout your practice. Their seam-free design also features a molded heel and additional arch support. They have a smooth, non-slip sole rather than a sticky dot pattern which can become irritating. Stick-e Yoga Socks come in small, medium and large sizes suitable for both men and women. They are available in blue and beige or all black and cost $19.95.

Bambooya

If you prefer a more traditional sock, try Bambooya's Organic Bamboo Socks. These yoga socks will keep your feet dry throughout your practice, thanks to their super-absorbent, sweat-wicking properties. They are made from a mixture of viscose from organic bamboo and Lycra Sandwich Terry so will help keep your feet warm in winter and cool in summer. Bambooya's Organic Bamboo Socks cost $7.50 for ankle-length pairs and $8.50 for quarter-length pairs. They are undyed and come in unisex sizes 4 to 6, 6 to 10, and 10 to 13.
