Waist Bend Exhale
The waist bend exhale helps to increase your lung capacity and make it easier for you to draw deeper breaths. Stand up straight and bend forward at the waist. As you do this, force all of the air out of your lungs in a large exhale. Stand upright again and inhale until no more air can fit in your lungs. Deep Breathing
Deep breathing teaches you to breathe from the full capacity of your lungs. Lie on a comfortable surface, such as a yoga mat or a bed. Put one hand on your chest and one hand on your belly. Breathe in through your nose. The hand on your belly should be pushed upward. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat this exercise but hold it at the top and bottom of each breath for seven seconds.
Candle Blow Out
Blowing out a candle can expand your lung capacity with the action of forcing air from your lungs rapidly. To start, light a candle. Position yourself in front of it and try to blow it out using on long breath. Repeat this exercise, each time moving the candle a little farther away from you.
Stretch Out Your Ribs
The rib stretch exercise lifts up your chest, making it easier for your lungs to fill completely. To start, stand with your feet spread apart slightly. Keep your back straight and exhale completely. Inhale slowly. Your chest should lift up until you can inhale no more air. Hold this breath for several seconds then exhale slowly. Repeat three times every day.
