Natural Herbs for Breast Enlargement

In Western culture, breasts are frequently viewed as symbols of sexuality, femininity and fertility. Because many women crave a voluptuous physique, breast-enhancing herbs are popular as dietary supplements.

Hormonal Effects

Most breast-enhancing herbs work as galactogogues; they interact with the neurotransmitter dopamine to stimulate prolactin, the lactation-related hormone. This creates a hormonal response similar to lactation.

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle's extract, silymarin, is now used primarily as a treatment for liver disease. However, it has been used for centuries as a galactogogue and may stimulate breast growth.

Blessed Thistle

While blessed thistle is only distantly related to milk thistle, it is also frequently used for breast enlargement. Cnicin, its chemical constituent, promotes lactation.

Wild Yam

Wild yam contains progesterone-like plant compounds that stimulate the enlargement of breast tissue. Wild yam is not the same as sweet potato--sweet potatoes lack the hormone-affecting compounds found in yams.

Fennel

While there is little scientific evidence to support fennel's use in breast enlargement, it is traditionally used as a galactogogue and breast enhancer.
