The Sensa Diet is one that has been formulated by Dr. Alan Hirsch, who has studied the effects of smell on appetite. With his findings, he created the Sensa System Diet, which uses odorless, colorless and flavorless crystals sprinkled on your food to enhance the smell and flavor of your food to make you feel fuller faster, which according to the Sensa website, causes you to eat less and lose weight. A study performed by the Sensa company found that dieters lost up to 15 percent of their body weight in 6 months on the program.
Step 1
Order the Sensa crystals from the Sensa website. Sensa is not currently sold in stores and must be ordered directly from the manufacturer. As of 2009, a one month start kit, including the crystals, a diet guide and information packet costs $49, or you can choose a 6 month supply for $199.
Step 2
Use the correct sprinkler for the different types of food that you eat. One side of the sprinkler is marked salt, and it should be used for savory foods, like meats and vegetables, starchy foods or salty snacks. Use the sweet shaker for dessert foods, fruits, cereals and other foods that might have a sweeter taste.
Step 3
Follow the order of the Sensa program. Each month changes the Tastants so that your olfactory sense doesn't get too used to the Tastants and stop working to alert your brain that you're full.
Step 4
Sprinkle a small amount of the Sensa Tastants onto your food before you eat. Use as much Sensa Tastants as you would salt or pepper. Make sure that you apply a liberal and even amount of Tastants for each food that you eat. Use it on everything that you eat, and bring Sensa with you when you go out to eat at restaurants and are on the go.
Step 5
Refrain from sprinkling the Sensa Tastants onto liquid foods such as soup and smoothies. Eat as you normally would, without changing your eating habits while on the Sensa System Diet.
Step 6
Follow the Sensa plan for the 6 months, as recommended by the diet plan website. When you reach the end of the 6 months, if you still feel that you want to continue with the plan, begin again with a new 6 month plan, starting with Month One.
