Foods like spinach, carrots, kale, apples, blueberries and blackberries should be included in your daily diet.
Dairy
Patients who have undergone cancer surgery may not absorb a sufficient amount of calcium, which increases the risk of osteoporosis. It may be difficult to consume certain dairy products like milk, yogurt and cheese. However, they can be slowly incorporated into the diet. Most dairy foods are rich sources of calcium and vitamin D.
Soy Products
Soy products are some of the best foods for stomach cancer patients because they contain many essential vitamins and minerals. They have plenty of protein, fiber, omega-3s and B-complex vitamins to provide adequate nutrition while recovering from treatment. Examples of foods derived from soy include soy nuts, yogurt, milk, beans and soy-based protein powders.
Frequency of Meals
According to the American Cancer Society, patients who have a limited appetite should eat small meals without liquids. The type of gastrectomy done depends on the size of the tumor. This operation can hinder your ability to absorb all of the nutrients needed to sustain proper health.
