Many workout books are available that detail exercise plans and diet programs, and many come with nutritious recipes, color photos, detailed exercise descriptions and workout charts to help you stay organized. With so many options available, you can find a book that will help you reach your goals.

'ACSM Fitness Book,' Third Edition

The American Council of Sports Medicine is a sports medicine and exercise science organization with more than 20,000 members around the world. It offers certifications, education and research on topics surrounding fitness, sports medicine and exercise science. The "ACSM Fitness Book" is a simple yet comprehensive guide to developing a physical fitness plan that can help you to get in shape and lose weight. Appropriate for beginners as well as seasoned fitness buffs, the book provides color photos, sample programs, worksheets, nutrition advice, motivation tips and step-by-step instructions for a large variety of exercises.

'Fitness for Dummies'

"Fitness for Dummies" breaks down how to get fit in a way that allows novice exercisers to embark on a training program without being overwhelmed. 'The Body Sculpting Bible for Women'

"The Body Sculpting Bible for Women" is designed for women and combines exercise instruction, nutrition plans and training schedules in order to help you get in shape and lose weight. Several comprehensive 14-day workout programs are provided, which allow you to focus on reducing body fat, toning your muscles or sculpting your body. Features include meal charts, workout graphs, fitness traveling tips and tips for pregnancy, seniors and teens. An entire section is dedicated to nutrition, which includes recipes and information on supplements. Also included is a 30-minute DVD, which provides instructions on the proper form that should be maintained while performing each exercise.

'Body for Life'

"Body for Life." written by personal trainer and New York Times best-selling author Bill Phillips, provides you with a simple yet effective workout plan that promises to help you lose weight, if followed correctly. The 12-week program has an emphasis on exercise, however, it is arranged in a way that let's you spend a minimal amount of time in the gym, for example, Phillips says that cardio exercise should be limited to three 20-minute sessions per week. The exercises are also kept on the simple side, to avoid any intimidation faction from users. Nutrition and supplement information and advice are also included.
