Battling belly fat requires both exercise and healthy eating. For midsection weight loss, plan at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Eat a low-calorie diet to fight belly fat as well. There are foods that boost your metabolism and promote more efficient workouts, helping you meet your midsection weight-loss goals.

Step 1

Eat omega-3 fatty acids to promote a faster metabolism. The nutrient also appears to improve your body's glucose insulin response, which means fewer food cravings and more fat loss. Salmon is a food that's high in this nutrient. Select wild salmon, rather than farmed versions. It contains higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids. Other foods rich in this type of fat include walnuts and flaxseed. Crush walnuts in your salads or sprinkle flaxseed on your pasta.

Step 2

Boost your intake of monounsaturated fats, which improve your basal metabolic rate, promoting midsection fat loss. Eat the majority of your fat from sources rich in monounsaturated fats. Avocados and vegetable oils, such as olive oil, are preferable options. Nuts are another food rich in monounsaturated fats. Instead of using butter for cooking, switch to olive oil to get the full benefits of this fat.

Step 3

Consume more berries. They are high in fiber and curb food cravings. Berries have other midsection weight-loss benefits. They improve your blood flow, which creates more effective muscle contractions. Workouts are more effective, creating a leaner midsection. Aim to eat ½ cup of berries daily. Strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries and boysenberries are options for filling your berry requirement.

Step 4

Eat almonds daily. Almonds are high in fiber and vitamin E. They also are rich in magnesium, a mineral used by the body to build muscle tissue and regulate blood sugar. Stabilizing your blood sugar will help reduce cravings and promote belly fat loss. Your body also doesn't absorb all the fat in almonds, decreasing the amount of calories actually consumed.

Step 5

Increase consumption of soy products. Soybeans are an antioxidant; however, they are also linked to faster stomach weight loss. Women who drink soy milk tend to lose a larger amount of midsection fat, according to "Fitness" magazine. The type of soybeans you select matters. Buy whole soybeans, rather than isolated soy protein. Soy milk, soy yogurt and tofu are options.
