The kidneys are paired organs that work tirelessly to filter up to 200 quarts of blood every day. Waste material and toxins are then excreted out of the body in the urine. In some cases, the kidneys are at risk of developing mineral deposits such as as calcium salts, phosphates and uric acid, which collect and form painful stones. Other toxins and bacteria can also cause inflammation and infections in the kidneys. Herbs such as hydrangea root may help cleanse the kidneys to prevent the accumulation of wastes and toxins, decrease inflammation, and help pass kidney stones. Consult your doctor before taking hydrangea and other herbal supplements as a kidney cleanser.

Step 1

Take 2 to 4 grams of hydrangea three times a day as a kidney cleanser. Dried hydrangea is available in capsule form to make it easier to ingest. The active ingredients for this herbal supplement is obtained from the roots and rhizomes of hydrangea plants. Ensure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients in the supplements before ingesting.

Step 2

Swallow the capsules whole with a glass of water. Take hydrangea capsules with or without food. Alternatively, make a hydrangea root tincture by diluting four to eight drops of hydrangea liquid extract in a glass of filtered water. Drink twice a day.

Step 3

Take hydrangea capsules combined with other herbs such as Bearberry and Gravel Root to cleanse the kidneys and treat kidney stones. These herbs are available as combination herbal capsules or separately. Take the dosage as recommended by your nutritionist or as directed on the product labels.

Step 4

Make hydrangea root tea by brewing 2 teaspoonfuls of the dried herb in boiling water. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes and drink the tea 3 times a day. Try this as an alternative to taking capsules.
