Acne is a common skin disease that can occur on your neck, back, face or chest, according to MedlinePlus. Although it is unknown how acne forms, many factors can contribute to the development of acne such as hormonal changes, bacteria or excess oil production. Whatever the cause, acne is not easy to get rid of. To help provide some relief of acne, you should supplement a variety of nutritious foods into your diet that are rich in nutrients that work to treat acne conditions.

Foods Rich in B Vitamins

You can obtain B vitamins from food sources such as fish, leafy green vegetables, peas, fish, beans, eggs, poultry and meat. All B vitamins can help to treat acne, such as vitamin B1 or thiamine, which is responsible for flushing out bacteria and viruses from your skin cells, and vitamin B3 or niacin, which helps to improve circulation and promote healthy skin, according to the Vitamin & Nutrition Center. Low intake of certain B vitamins like vitamin B2 or riboflavin, vitamin B6 or pyridoxine can possibly result in acne formation.

Foods Rich in Vitamin C

All fruits and vegetables contain some kind of vitamin C. However, the most food that contains vitamin C include cantaloupe, mango, pineapples, red peppers, tomatoes, sweet potatoes and oranges. Vitamin C has an antibacterial effect and is also an antioxidant substance, making it an essential nutrient for helping to prevent bacteria from harming your skin cells and contribute to acne formation. Vitamin C also helps to ensure that your immune system is healthy and strong.

Foods Rich in Vitamin A

Foods that contain vitamin H include liver, eggs, cheese, carrots, fish oil, spinach, meat, pumpkin and apricots. Vitamin A helps to reduce acne formation by preventing excess sebum production, which can result in too much oil on your skin. Vitamin A also reliefs stress from your body. Stress may result in acne. The Vitamin & Nutrition Center reports that low intake of vitamin A may cause acne.

Foods Rich in Zinc

Foods rich in zinc include peanuts, red meats, mushrooms, tofu, poultry, soybeans, pumpkin, carrots, oysters and sunflower seeds. According to the Vitamin & Nutrition Center, zinc controls the activity of your oil glands, helping to prevent excess production of sebum and reducing acne breakouts. The University of Maryland Medical Center notes that acne may be an indication of a zinc deficiency.
