If you're looking to lose weight or detoxify your body, you might be interested in the three-day fruit diet, which often goes by the name of the Fruit Flush diet. This program was created by Jay Robb, says Every Diet, and is supposed to act as a three-day introduction to a new diet or a way to purify your body quickly. Before starting this or any diet, talk to your doctor.
Day 1
On the first day of the three-day fruit diet, you are preparing your body for the fruit flush. To start, you drink protein drinks every couple of hours and for dinner, you eat a salad with numerous vegetables, a small amount of chicken and some olive oil. The idea here is that you'll get enough protein on day one to satisfy you for the next two days.
Days 2 and 3
On the second and third days of the diet, you eat just fruit all day. Every couple of hours, you're to eat a combination of bananas, strawberries, cantaloupe, apples and mangos. For dinner, you switch and have a protein shake along with raw veggies and an avocado half. This is the flush part of the diet intended to remove toxins from your body and give your digestive system a break.
Other Specifications
Along with the fruit portions of the diet, you also need to drink 12 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. All other drinks should be avoided for the three days of the diet. Try to eat just organic fruits and don't exercise to avoid fatigue.
Considerations
The purpose of the three-day fruit or fruit flush diet is to help you lose a couple of pounds quickly and shed toxins through overloading your body with the nutrition and antioxidants from fruit. Supposedly, this reduces bloating, gives you more energy and can help you to transition to a healthy diet such as vegetarianism or veganism, says Every Diet. However, there is no scientific evidence to back up the claims that toxins need to be purged from the body. In fact, your body takes care of detoxing on its own, says KidsHealth.org, so the three-day fruit diet may not even be necessary.
