Losing belly fat is often a part of a larger weight loss program. But many people just want to lose weight on their stomachs. Unfortunately, this isn't exactly possible. Spot reduction is just a myth. However, you can perform certain exercises to tighten your belly and make specific diet choices to reduce bloat. Beyond that though you're limited to cosmetic surgery for losing 2 lbs. of belly fat.
Step 1
Quit eating bloat-causing foods. That means refined sugars found in foods like white bread and pasta will have to go. Because they're hard to digest, the simple carbohydrates in refined sugars can cause gas and bloating, which can extend your abdomen and make you look fat. Plus, the fats in these foods are more likely to be stored than burned off during exercise.
Step 2
Drink more water by getting between eight and 10 glasses a day. Each glass should be about 8 oz.. Drinking more water keeps your body hydrated and your metabolism working at top speed. It also keeps your digestive system moving, which prevents a buildup of waste in the intestines that can account for belly weight.
Step 3
Focus your exercises on your abdomen. Anything that targets the midsection will help you burn belly fat. Crunches, leg lifts, leg raises, reverse crunches, sit-ups and lunges are all good exercises to tighten up your belly. Be advised, however, that spot exercises will not burn fat just from your stomach. To lose belly fat, you'll need to lose weight all over your body.
Step 4
Consider liposuction. The only way to lose 2 lbs. of belly fat from your midsection and from nowhere else on your body is through cosmetic procedures like liposuction. If you've already lost all the weight you want to lose from the rest of your body, consider getting liposuction done at the site of the problem.
