Liver can be a rich source of vitamin and minerals including magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, vitamin A and folate. It is also a low carbohydrate and high protein containing food source. Consuming liver each day will not significantly affect your daily vitamin K intake.

Chicken Liver

A 100 g serving of chicken livers contains 0 mcg vitamin K. While it is a poor source of vitamin K, it is naturally high in protein. Per serving, chicken livers contain 119 calories, 16.9 g protein, 4.8 g fat and 0.73 g carbohydrates.

Turkey Liver

Like chicken liver, turkey liver is not considered a good source of vitamin K. A 100 g serving contains only 0.8 mcg vitamin K. Turkey liver also contains 228 calories, 17.8 g protein, 16.36 g fat and 2.2 g carbohydrates.

Recommendations

Vitamin K is needed by the body in order for the blood to clot. It also helps the body to maintain strong bones. Medline Plus recommends that adults consume at least 90 mcg vitamin K each day. Liver meets less than 1 percent of your daily vitamin K needs.

Sources

Rich sources of vitamin K include leafy green vegetables such as cabbage, spinach and kale. Other sources include cauliflower, soybeans and cereals.
