A weight loss goal of 2 pounds is reasonable and easy to achieve. Of course there are quick ways to lose weight but if you have a few weeks to spare, a 2 lb weight loss can be achieved with minimal to moderate effort.
Step 1
Sign up for a high intensity aerobics class at a local gym. According to shape.com, aerobics class participants burn 300-450 calories per class. High intensity aerobics classes include; spin, kickboxing, step, and sculpt. If you participated in some form of high intensity aerobics class 6 days a week for 3 weeks, and burned 450 calories each class, you would burn 8,100 calories and lose 2.3 pounds.
Step 2
Skip the latte. A Starbucks grande café latte contains 190 calories. Let’s say you drink two café latte’s per day, 5 days a week. Over the course of 4 weeks that’s 7,600 calories. One pound is equal to 3,500 calories. Cut the latte habit and in 4 weeks you can lose 2.1 pounds.
Step 3
Walk the stairs in your office building. According to DiscoverWalking.com, you can burn 300 calories walking the stairs for 30 minutes. If you walked the stairs for 30 minutes, 5 days a week for 5 weeks you could burn 7,500 calories or 2.1 pounds.
Step 4
Drink water before your meals. A recent study published by Dr. Brenda Davy showed that people that consumed 16 ounces of water before each meal consumed 225 fewer calories per day. In one week that’s 1,575 fewer calories consumed and in 6 weeks you could save yourself an extra 9,450 calories or 2.7 pounds.
Tips and Warnings
- If walking the stairs for 30 minutes straight seems like a difficult task, break your stair walk into three, ten-minute segments. Get a co-worker to walk the stairs with you or bring your iPod along to make stair walking more exciting. Have green tea instead of coffee. Green tea contains caffeine along with cancer fighting antioxidants and zero calories per 8 ounce serving. The number of calories burned depends on the intensity and duration of the fitness class so give your best.
- Consult with a physician before beginning any exercise program.
