The Quickest Way to Lose Belly Fat

Belly fat is the hardest kind of fat to get rid of. People with more belly fat are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol. The fat is stored right under the skin, making your stomach jiggle as you jump, run or even walk. But getting rid of it does not require medications or any special outlay of money.

Step 1

Eat healthy. You need to burn more calories than you take in, so keeping track of caloric intake is important. Rid your fridge and pantry of high-calorie foods, sugar and greasy snacks. The calories not used in your day-to-day routine will be stored in your belly, which is why it is crucial to count your calories.

Step 2

Exercise. Crunches and sit-ups are virtually useless to someone trying to lose belly fat. The best exercises are a combination of weight training and cardio workouts such as aerobics. Alternating these types of workouts four times a week will strengthen abdominal muscles and melt fat away.

Step 3

Drink plenty of water. Some of what we consider to be belly fat could also be fluid retention. Drinking water will flush out your system, and keeping hydrated will prevent your body from needing to store fluids. Limiting sodium intake can also reduce fluid retention.

Step 4

Keep a routine going. Be consistent with your workout and diet plan. Keep a realistic goal in mind.

Step 5

Retrain yourself. With your new diet and exercise, you will be retraining your body and mind to maintain a belly fat-free lifestyle. Getting into the habit of healthy eating and exercise will keep it off, rather than allowing the fat to return once your regimen is finished.
