How to Lose Weight on Juice Fasts

If you have stubborn fat that doesn't seem to go away with exercise, juice fasting might help you shed pounds. Fat deposits result from inactivity and overeating, but your body may also have built up toxins that a juice fast can help remove. Juice fasting combats fat by reducing the calories you consume and flooding your system with antioxidants that help cleanse your system so it can function more efficiently.

Step 1

Stock up on fruit juices and vegetable juices. These should be natural and organic whenever possible, and you should consume different kinds of juices over the course of your day. Popular fruit juices include orange, grapefruit, cranberry and grape. Common vegetable juices include tomato, carrot and blended juices made from green vegetables like lettuce, cabbage and celery.

Step 2

Blend your own drinks from whole fruits and vegetables, or a combination of both, if you cannot find suitable juices or want to make your own blended concoctions.

Step 3

Drink as much juice as you want throughout the day. Juice fasting will leave you hungry frequently, but it's okay to feed your hunger whenever it hits. In fact, the more juices you drink, the more antioxidants and nutrients there will be flowing through your system.

Step 4

Consume equal amounts of fruit juice and vegetable juice in a day to provide a balance of nutrients and fiber.

Step 5

Continue this diet for up to two weeks. Talk to your doctor before fasting longer than that.

Tips and Warnings

  • Exercise also helps burn off fat, and sweating is one of the easiest ways for your body to expel toxins. Exercise three to five times a week, but not strenuously while on this diet. If you feel light-headed, dizzy or nauseated, you are exercising too hard.
  • Do not juice fast when pregnant or when you have a medical condition that requires dietary constraints.

Things You'll Need
