A BMI chart will also show the appropriate BMI range for a person of your weight and height.
3. All Calories Count
In many weight loss programs, food groups and exchanges take all the work out of calorie counting. But knowing how many calories it takes to get to your ideal body weight and stay there is essential for weight management. We'd all like to believe that there are certain foods that just don't count. That's a mistake many people make after weight loss. Every fruit and vegetable has calories, although not as many as meats, fats and dairy. So, it's impossible to eat as many carrots as you want and never take into consideration your daily caloric intake. Make no mistake, weight problems don't come as a result of eating your veggies, just remember to count calories.
4. Keep Moving
We'd all like to think exercise is just for weight loss; that when we reach that all important ideal body weight it's good-bye treadmill. But achieving weight loss goals isn't the end of the journey; it's the beginning of a healthy new lifestyle. The only way to maintain a healthy body weight once you've reached it is through regular exercise. Regular exercise doesn't mean spending hours and hours in the gym. Thirty minutes of brisk walking 5 days per week will help you stay on track and keep enjoying all you've achieved.

Healthy weight management isn't just about how you look and feel. Healthy weight management has benefits for a lifetime. People who maintain a healthy body weight are less likely to develop Type II diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer. A healthy body weight keeps your joints young and your body active and functioning. This means a better quality of life at every age.
