New Balance 6200 Recumbent Bike Help

The New Balance 6200 is a recumbent exercise bike designed for in-home use. Recumbent bikes are more comfortable than upright bikes for some users because you sit semi-reclined with a full back support. To get the most out of your New Balance 6200, learn the different features and the proper adjustments of the bike.

Features

The New Balance 6200 offers eight levels of digitally adjustable pedal resistance. The seat is extra wide and sports a mesh back that allows air to flow through, keeping you cool. The 6200 features nine preset interval programs and two heart rate control programs. The handlebars have built-in pulse sensors so you can check your heart rate while you work out. The display has five information windows that show the time, speed, distance, approximate calories burned, and heart rate.

Adjusting Your Bike

Sit on your New Balance 6200 with your back straight and pressed against the back support. Your shoulders should rest just above the top of the seat. If the seat back is too low or high, step off the bike and unscrew the adjustment knob on the back of the seat. Slide the seat back up or down to the appropriate height and retighten the knob. Sit down and place your feet on the pedals. Rotate one pedal so it is at the farthest point forward. Your knee should be slightly bent in this position. Lift the adjustment lever on the left side of the seat if you need to move the seat forward or back.

Selecting a Program

If you want to control the pedal resistance manually, start pedaling and use the up and down arrow keys to change the resistance. The built-in programs divide your workout time into 10 different interval segments. To select one of the these programs, press and hold the "Start" button for two seconds. Use the up and down arrow keys to select one of the programs then select the duration of your workout. Press "Enter" to start the program.

Care of Your Bike

The manufacturer recommends using a soft, clean cloth to wipe off the frame, seat and console on your 6200 after each workout to eliminate the build-up of sweat and dust. You can use an alcohol-based cleaner, but no other abrasive cleaners or solutions. Only use your New Balance 6200 indoors. The outdoor humidity and precipitation can damage the machine. Regularly check and retighten the nuts and bolts.
