NordicTrack is a brand of fitness equipment made by Icon Health and Fitness, which also makes other brands, such as ProForm, Reebok and Free Motion. As of March 2011, NordicTrack offers treadmills as low as $749 and as high as $3,299. NordicTrack treadmills are mid-range machines, packed with features and designed for residential use.
Types
Most NordicTrack treadmills, except for the incline series, fold up vertically to save floor space when you're not using them. They also have wheels on the front so you can roll the folded machine away to a storage closet or room.
The incline treadmill series, called incline trainers, feature shorter running decks with increased incline capabilities. The power ramp inclines up to 40 percent, versus 10 to 15 percent on most other NordicTrack treadmills.
Specifications
NordicTrack treadmills feature a continuous horsepower motor between 2.5 and 4.0 hp. The running area is either 20 inches by 60 inches, 22 inches by 60 inches or, on an incline trainer, 20 inches by 55 inches. Most NordicTrack treadmills can handle speeds up to 12 mph in 0.1 mph increments. All the models have a power ramp that inclines up to 10 percent, 12 percent or 15 percent, depending on the model. Some models have decline capabilities up to -3 percent.
Features
NordicTrack is known for packing a lot of features into its machines. All the treadmills have heart rate pulse sensors and several models are compatible with Polar wireless chest transmitters. Most NordicTrack treadmills have iFit technology or are iFit compatible. With this technology, you wirelessly connect your treadmill to the Internet to download workout programs that have a virtual personal trainer guide you through your session. Besides iFit programs, NordicTrack treadmills have between 16 and 30 built-in workouts that automatically adjust the speed and incline settings for you during your workout.
Warranty
NordicTrack offers a lifetime warranty on the frame and motor for all its treadmill models. The warranty on the parts and labor varies among the models. Higher-end NordicTrack treadmills offer a seven-year parts and two-year labor warranty. On its mid-priced treadmills, NordicTrack warrants the parts for two or three years and the labor for one year. Other models have only a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
