Some exercises like walking and jogging are simple, and do not require special equipment. However, if you want to diversify your workout program and lose weight more quickly, certain machines can expedite your weight loss. These machines are often found in gyms, but you may also purchase them for home use.
Bicycle
Bicycling is a workout that tones your core muscles, builds lean muscle and burns calories. This can be done outdoors or indoors. If you use a stationary bike, use one that works your upper body in conjunction with your lower body. This promotes greater fat-burning abilities than working your lower-body alone.
Rowing Machine
Rowing machines strengthen your upper body and provide an aerobic workout with joint stress. It is similar to rowing a boat because you are pulling the handlebar in and out. Also, the bench you sit in moves back and forth with the handlebar. You pull the bar toward your chest while pushing backward, straightening your legs, then pulling forward, as you push the bar outward and straighten your arms. This exercise is repeated over and over for the prescribed amount of time.
Elliptical Trainer
An elliptical trainer targets all of your major muscle groups to tone them and enhance lung capacity. Use an elliptical trainer that works your upper and lower body simultaneously to burn the most calories. Place your feet on the pedals and grab the handles. You can choose which preprogrammed workout you want to use, depending on your fitness goals. Maneuver the handles by pushing them back and forth, while pushing your legs back and forth at the same time. Do this for the prescribed amount of time.
Stair Climber
Stair climbers simulate climbing stairs, only you continuously climb upward instead of going down actual stairs. These are a great way to tone your thighs, buttocks and calf muscles while burning calories. Hold on to the handrails, set the revolving staircase in motion and perform this exercise for the prescribed amount of time.
