Although the reasons are not known, most women suffer from cellulite on some part of their body. Cellulite consists of fat deposits that appear under the skin, which can give your skin a dimpled and lumpy appearance. Cellulite most often appears on the buttocks, thighs and hips. Toning exercises can help get rid of cellulite along with a nutritional diet. Make sure you speak to your doctor before making any dietary changes.
Step 1
Limit beverages that act as diuretics. Caffeinated beverages as well as alcohol can dry out the skin and make cellulite more prominent. Instead, drink a lot of water to keep the skin well hydrated. Include eight to ten glasses a day.
Step 2
Avoid foods high in saturated fat. Fatty dishes, like fast food, sweets, fried meals and chips can make you more prone to cellulite.
Step 3
Reduce your salt intake. Salt as well as starchy foods can lead to fluid retention, which can worsen the appearance of your cellulite. Steer clear of foods that are high in salt or starch, like processed meats, canned vegetables, snack chips, Asian dishes, white bread, potatoes and rice.
Step 4
Eat plenty of raw fruits and vegetables. To cleanse the body and help get rid of the fatty deposits, consume mostly raw vegetables and fruit. Some good foods to incorporate into your diet include apples, bananas, carrots, cranberries, strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers.
Step 5
Consume lean sources of protein. An adequate amount of protein in the diet can help you build muscle to replace the cellulite. Eat proteins that are low in saturated fat, like white fish, oily fish, egg whites, turkey breast, skinless chicken breast and tofu.
Tips and Warnings
- Don't rely on expensive creams to get rid of your cellulite. None of the creams are proven to be effective and may take a long time to make the slightest difference.
