Yeast infections can affect men, women and even babies. Oral thrush, jock itch, vaginitis and diaper rash can all be caused by an overgrowth of Candida, a fungal yeast infection that occurs when some bacteria multiply more quickly than others. Introducing beneficial bacteria into your body to crowd-out the Candida, through the use of probiotics, found in live-cultured food such as yogurt or raw apple cider vinegar, can treat any yeast infection.

Step 1

Choose a raw apple cider vinegar that contains the "mother" -- cloudy, dark brown strands floating near the bottom of the bottle. The mother is proof that the unpasteurized vinegar has live, active cultures to replenish your intestines with beneficial bacteria and fight the yeast infection.

Step 2

Take 2 tbsp. of raw apple cider vinegar mixed with 8 oz. of filtered water three times daily. If the taste of apple cider vinegar is too pungent for you, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or dilute the vinegar with more water. Do not add honey to sweeten the vinegar, as yeast thrive on sugar. Limiting sugar in your diet will help rid your body of Candida faster.

Step 3

Add 1 cup of raw apple cider vinegar to a warm bath and soak for at least 20 minutes to help heal the external symptoms, such as itching or redness, of your yeast infection. Do not use apple cider vinegar topically without diluting it -- it can sting in concentrated form.

Step 4

Continue to drink raw apple cider vinegar daily after your yeast infection is cured to prevent future outbreaks. You do not a therapeutic dose; simply add 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar to 16-oz. of filtered water and drink throughout the day.

Tips and Warnings

  • Sweeten your apple cider vinegar beverage with stevia rather than honey.
  • See your doctor if you have chronic yeast infections; they may be a symptom of an underlying medical issue.
